Chad McKenney
Mr. McKenney has represented businesses and their owners throughout the life of a business from entity formation through dissolution. Mr. McKenney strives to be a trusted partner in the growth of your business while ensuring owners are personally protected from liability. Matters covered are business formation, contract negotiation, shareholder and director issues, employee handbooks, employment, independent contractor agreements, owner control agreements, buy-sell agreements, purchase agreements, lease issues, documenting annual director and shareholder meetings, loan agreements, personal guarantees, and all areas of business litigation. A significant part of Mr. McKenney’s practice includes working closely with business owners providing guidance and legal advice to help those businesses achieve their goals.
Mr. McKenney often works with individuals on estate planning issues, including wills, irrevocable and revocable trusts, healthcare directives, powers of attorney, and other matters to carry out the client’s estate planning objectives. Mr. McKenney meets with individuals and works to ensure their wishes are known, clearly stated and carried out to avoid future conflicts and taxes.
Mr. McKenney also works in family law, including filing or responding to divorce petitions, child support and maintenance issues, custody and parenting time, and drafting antenuptial agreements. Mr. McKenney's focus is to try the path of least resistance, which often means first looking at mediation as he has not yet met a client who truly enjoys litigating disputes rather than trying to resolve them as quickly and cheaply as possible. However, if mediation is unsuccessful, Mr. McKenney will ensure his client’s interests are fully protected throughout the litigation process.
Mr. McKenney is admitted to practice law in all courts in the State of Minnesota, including the United States District Court for Minnesota and the United States Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Further, Mr. McKenney is a member of the American Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association, and LRIS. Chad is married to Lisa and they have two children. In his spare time, he enjoys cross-country skiing, running and cheering on Minnesota sports teams.
Brad Hendrikson
Mr. Hendrikson strives to provide efficient and quality legal representation for businesses and individuals. He believes that small businesses are the backbone of our country and takes pride in helping business clients achieve their goals by counseling them on various legal options and complexities.
Mr. Hendrikson has assisted small businesses in various legal areas, including company formation, shareholder agreements, member agreements, sales, purchases, dissolution, construction, real estate, as well as employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, and non-compete agreements and disputes. He has represented clients in mediations, arbitrations, motions and trials.
Mr. Hendrikson is proud to be an attorney with Donohue McKenney and has teamed with colleague Chad McKenney for over 25 years on complex motions, trials and appeals. He currently resides "south of the river" and is a native of Burnsville, MN. He attended college at Brown University in Providence, RI before transferring and obtaining his B.A. in Management from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. He got his J.D, cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, MN . Mr. Hendrikson has helped write and teach legal classes on various subjects involving real estate and limited liability companies. He enjoys serving his family and community, coaching youth hockey and lacrosse, and still occasionally tries to contribute as a player on the Hennepin County lawyers hockey team in the annual Barristers Cup tournament when they travel to face their friendly foes from Thunder Bay north of the border. John C. Gunderson
Mr. Gunderson has represented individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations for over 30 years. He has experience in a broad range of civil litigation, including mechanic’s liens and other construction litigation, contract disputes, real estate matters, personal injury defense, and contested probate and trust proceedings.
Mr. Gunderson has worked extensively in all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, paternity, complex property division, family business issues, protection of nonmarital assets, spousal maintenance, grandparent custody, and antenuptial agreements. Mr. Gunderson will ensure that his client’s interests are protected throughout the process, from drafting and responding to claims and petitions, providing guidance through mediation, settlement agreements, and, if necessary, contested court trials and appeals. Mr. Gunderson has experience in elder law matters, including guardianship and conservatorship proceedings.
Mr. Gunderson is admitted to practice law in all courts in the State of Minnesota, including the United States District Court for Minnesota and the United States Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Laurie is a paralegal who received her certificate from Rasmussen Business College in 1992. She has worked closely with Chad McKenney since 1997. In litigation matters, she assists with preparing pleadings, docketing, preparing contracts, scheduling depositions and various hearings, managing and organizing document productions, gathering evidence, legal research, and trial preparation and settlement. Laurie also assists in creating and organizing legal entities, record maintenance of businesses, preparation of estate planning and probate documents, and preparation of deeds and other real estate documents.

Julie has an English degree from the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University and her paralegal certificate from the Minnesota Paralegal Institute. For fourteen years, she was in the Recorder’s Office in McLeod County, working with real estate documents and issues. She also worked for Messerli Kramer Law Firm and the Mcleod County Attorney’s Office. At Donohue McKenney, she assists in various matters, such as Family, Real Estate, and Civil Litigation.

Cindy is our Legal Assistant and came to our firm in February 2022. She attended Southwest Minnesota State University before transferring to the University of Wisconsin, River Falls while studying Political Science and International Relations.
